A bit dated - but fine enough

点评：Came from Rome to board the "Odyssey of the Seas" this October. It's not the biggest or most modern port around, but was just fine.
Depending on traffic it's a 70-90min drive away from Central Rome. It's quite common knowledge that this port is not in Rome itself. Which would be difficult, since Rome is not a city by the ocean.
There are trains, shuttles and busses going to port and back to town. We chose a private transfer though, booked through the official port website. So the car drove directly to the Cruise Ship and also from the Cruise Ship back to town. Very convenient.
We were here quite early around 9.30 with a boarding time of 12.30. But we were allowed to go inside the building at around 10am already. There was already a line, but only about 30-50 people yet. The line could have been organised a bit better, we were moved 2-3 times. But nothing too stressful.
After 10am we were checking in upstairs in the building already. The security check organised by the Italian authorities was quick and smooth.
There's a small shop with snacks and more upstairs in the waiting area. Also some restrooms and plenty of space to sit. Things moved quickly and we boarded the ship at around 11am already.
It's not a fancy Cruise Port but does what it needs to. And it's organised well enough. On the way back our transport already waited for us - booked it weeks before cruising. Make sure you know how to get back to Rome (or any other city) when disembarking. Because there will be a lot more people than when embarking. Best to organise it before your cruise already.
