点评：Confederation Landing Park was constructed and opened in 1995. It involved acquire and decommission the former Texaco Tank property and redevelop it as a Waterfront Park commemorating the 1864 Charlottetown Conference that led to the formation of Canada. The Maritime provinces were deemed separate entities and colonies of various countries. Nova Scotia is Latin for New Scotland. What was known as Canada in the mid-1860s was the current provinces of Quebec and Ontario. The 1864 Charlottetown Conference united—or “confederated”—all of the eastern provinces into one country: Canada.
The waterfront park is more than just history. It’s an active area at the tip of Charlottetown. There are surrounding pubs, restaurants, shops—or a lovely place for a family picnic. As part of a tour group, I had little free time, but I did walk about the area, especially the adjoining wharfs and met many local residents. It’s a wonderful opportunity to enjoy water views and manicured nature.
