Nice little place, but prepare little eyes for some not so nice photos dotted around!
Hillside Shire Horse Sanctuary的点评
点评：A lovely hidden gem tucked away off the beaten track — it was a real treat to get up close to the rescued horses and other animals. The fact that entry is free is a definite bonus and adds to the charm of the place.
The café offered tasty food at reasonable prices, which made for a pleasant break during our visit.
One point to note: while we fully respect the sanctuary’s mission and understand the importance of raising awareness around animal welfare, some of the messaging around veganism and animal cruelty felt quite intense. Graphic images on certain information boards were unsuitable for young children, and we found ourselves having to quickly steer ours away. This isn’t something you’d typically encounter at more mainstream family attractions.
We appreciate the passion behind the cause and support the sanctuary’s purpose, but we feel the more graphic content could perhaps be made less prominent or positioned in a way that allows visitors to choose whether to engage with it.
That aside, it’s a special place doing important work, and we’re glad we visited.
