点评:We were curious about this nature reserve and as we wanted to walk by the sea we decided not to take public transport from central Malaga. It's a bit of a mixed journey on foot as the first part by the port is very traffic-heavy and the pavements were busy, but once you get to the beach-side promenade it's really pleasant, with lots of beach bars and restaurants where you can take a break and watch the beach volleyball. The road gets busy again as you peel off for the reserve, which you reach via a new, undulating bridge.
It's free to get in and once you're through the gates it is very peaceful - not many visitors when we were there, and bikes aren't allowed (didn't stop a couple of them, though). There are a couple of hides where you can look at the lagoon and birdwatch - there are stilts, various ducks and even a visiting osprey - and you can walk down to the beach. There is a very useful guide (in English too) which you can download via a QR code - interesting to read later if you can't get it to download there. It's quite dry to walk on the paths, apparently even after substantial rain, and everything appears to be accessible. Our best find was a huge African locust sitting amongst the wildflowers which we were so lucky to see. It was really good to have a period of quiet after the buzz of the beach, and we were glad to be there out of season - I think it could be very hot and exposed in the Summer.
