Inishowen Maritime Museum & Planetarium的点评
点评：I visited this gem of a museum as part of an exploration of Spanish Armada sites around Antrim and Donegal. I initially went, as I had heard they had a VR experience around this subject matter which is very informative.. What amazed me was they actually had Armada artefacts from two ship wrecks as I thought it was only the Tower and Ulster Museums, which I visited, had these precious items (Dublin also retains some).
When I explained to Rosemarie and Caroline the nature of my visit, they spent time explaining the laborious and very technical process they went through to attain these historic items. The artefacts are complimented by a very detailed storyboard explaining the history of the Armada in Ireland.
As a Naval History enthusiast I explored the remainder of the museum which houses many interesting and excellent naval and aviation items.
There is a rich history relating to the Spanish Armada around the Inishowen Peninsula and Donegal in general. I would highly recommend the museums own publication The Spanish Armada in County Donegal which can be purchased in the shop and I am sure on-line. This publication, edited by Dave Atherton, one of the divers who recovered many of the artefacts from La Trinidad Valencera, help me immensely when I was tracking many of the sites I visited all over Donegal.
I cannot thank Rosemarie and Caroline enough for their time and dedication in setting up what I would say was the jewel in this fantastic museums crown.
