点评：I found Bruce's class on his website as I was searching for a painting class in Ubud. Before taking Bruce's class, I had no idea what the class was going to be like for me. I went to Ubud on a solo trip as an escape to heal and relax. My problem wAs I had severe anxiety problem and issues with my family back home in Jakarta. Except I knew the Color Art Therapy from the website looked very appealing to me.
So I decided to take a 3 days class , since it comes with a 10% discount.
From the first day, I already felt very comfortable with Bruce, we got along perfectly right away, and the result I made was beyond my expectation. I first learned how to paint various types of lines with black pigment, using different brushes. Then we color it using color pigments. I love using vibrant colors in my paintings, but the wet on wet black and color pigment technique was very new to me. It was a truly natural flowing process for me. We used different types of nylon brushes, and pigment paints. It was very enjoyable and relaxing moment. And the result was amazing .
The second day I did a bit of exercise using pastels, with the black pigment painting from the first day. The next thing I did was an interesting one. Bruce first showed me different mythical figures. Then, he asked me to do black pigment painting where with mythical figures using my own version. I was totally blank at first, but then slowly but surely, I made another nice surprising result. I incorporated improvisation of the lines exercise from the before as well as from my own previous painting experience.
On the third day which is the last,
Bruce made me do a new mythical painting and paint pigments on a dry canvas. So I drew a new one and colored it and Bruce said that this one was even better. It has more life to it. Cute and Semi- Abstract. Bruce said that my paintings from Mythical journey came to be my own style , to which is like Pop Art and similar to Keith Haring. Maybe it’s because Pop Art is my favorite genre and I did pop art style painting before.
I love taking Bruce's class, every minute wAs so breath taking. The art I learned was new, healing and totally and out of the box creativity which was all beyond my imagination. All of the creative process was was such a release. I did what I never thought possible. I felt so free and relaxed to express the whole time. The studio in his home is also spacious , homey and very tranquil.The vibe in Ubud also adds a nice artsy element. Bruce is an incredible amazing art teacher, who is very compassionate patient , passionate and also an intriguing human being. He makes us play around with our art with fun and joy , purely from our heart. And most of all, he teaches with positivity and love.
Now, I'm not so anxious anymore, and feel so much more peaceful and happier.
I am so happy taking Bruce's class. I wiIl definately join again when I return to Ubud. I highly recommend everyone to join the next time you plan to go to Bali. Stay in Ubud and discover your own magical art journey.
