点评:We have visited many wineries, but this was one of the most memorable. From the road, the rustic farm buildings foreshadow the friendly, rustic, family style of the whole place.
We were guided by Greta who had only been at the winery for 4 days (!), but she gave us a wonderful tour of the simple winery and barrel room where we came across the winemaker, one of the owners, meticulously applying labels to wine bottles.
We then sampled two 30-year-old balsamics before going into the house for lunch, where we met two other partners, Alessandro and Claudia.
Lunch which accompanied six different wines, ranged from a series of bruschetta and toasts with different home-made spreads, to marinated chicken wings, the lightest lasagna ever and ice cream with 30-year-old balsamic.
The wines included two Chiantis, and three Super Tuscans and a sparkling rose of Pinot Nero.
Then we learned about the work that the family does to support a school and village in Kenya. They spend two months a year there and donate a share of the revenue from some wine sales to support the village.
