点评:The Mosquito Pier is an abandoned US Navy project from WWII that was going to try to connect Vieques with the main island of Puerto Rico. I'm so glad it didn't, because Vieques would be overrun with tourists!
You can drive out on the pier to nearly the end, and on the left you will see a ladder and platform to enter and exit the water so you don't have to scramble over the rocks. There were just a few other people there snorkeling and using scuba.
The water is exceptionally clear, and there is a reef right next to the pier. I recommend swimming along the pier and staying within 50 yards of the shoreline. After that it drops off steeply. There were many fish, and thankfully, some healthy coral.
There are no amenities, so you need to be self sufficient here. There is also a significant current, so be aware and check your surroundings often.
It's a beautiful space, and was actually the best snorkeling I had during my four days on Vieques.
