点评:A short inexpensive drive by taxi brought us to the crocodile farm complex. It seemed deserted, but after paying just 32.5 dinar entry we were treated to an amazing experience, looking into the tortoise, iguana and crocodile enclosures. The estate was immaculately maintained with no weeds or detritus anywhere. Security were positioned around the site and at 3pm there was a free baby croc encounter. Makes Gatorland in Florida look like a cowboy park.
Outside the farm there is also a free entry into a Djerba living history museum which is staffed by people actively demonstrating textile manufacture and water irrigation techniques as an example, all the buildings are well maintained and there is a local historian insight happy to give a free explanation and tour of not just this area but the Tunisian culture museum next door. We tipped generously for the insitive tour , though not necessary. Visiting during winter and spring avoids the crowds as it was explained they get upwards of 3000 visitors a day in summer.
I rate this as 10/10, the highlight of our trip to Djerba
