Come on now, that cabbage cannot be THAT large !
Palmer Visitor Information Center的点评
点评:What a wonderful find in this delightful town. Steeped with history and informative and friendly staff, this should be your first stop when exploring the area. They have a wonderfully maintained garden of flowers and fruits. You literally can feel the care and attention it is given. Inside the log-cabin center are artifacts and historical documents. I was very intrigued by the info about the 1935 Matanuska Colony. It was the depths of the lingering depression when over 200 farm families were selected from Michigan, Minnesota and Wisconsin to start a new life in Palmer. Imagine that---leaving whatever you had known for the "wilderness" of Alaska. They did. Many returned but were replaced. This is a forgotten part of FDR's New Deal, and being from Wisconsin, totally new to me. Oh yes, that sculptured cabbage in the garden--it is a full size winner. Really.
