Kapalua Coastal Trail的点评
点评：The Kapalua Coastal Trail is an approximately 2.5 mi/4.0 km out-and-back trail that runs along the northwest Maui coast, between Kapalua Bay and D.T. Fleming Beach Park, affording hikers some outstanding oceanfront views. My wife and I hiked this trail on a breezy morning during mid-October 2024.
You can access the trail from several points, including Kapalua Bay and the beach access parking lot at The Bay Villas. We were able to snag one of the free parking spots in the small lot near the Oneloa Bay access point to the trail.
The trail itself features an interesting mix of terrains, including a boardwalk, pavement, lava rocks, and sand. Because of the rock and sand portions, you should wear a sturdy pair of shoes – i.e., you shouldn’t attempt this trail wearing flip flops or barefoot. Overall, the trail is fairly flat and easy to navigate, so it is appropriate for both families and seniors. NOTE that the trail is very exposed, so getting an early start (especially in the summer) would be a good idea.
The hike is not overly strenuous, and the views along the trail are spectacular. If you enjoy light hiking along the ocean, the Kapalua Coastal Trail is highly recommended.
