Small park, nice beach.
Mara Provincial Park的点评
点评：We came to this park for a little staycation close to home. It was nice, I'm glad we only stayed for a couple of days because the campground itself doesn't have much to offer. We mostly enjoyed sitting around at the campsite socializing, having a fire, and visiting the nearby town.
Campground:
We stayed at one of the electric campgrounds. These campgrounds offer very little privacy. We were side by side with our neighbours behind us, beside us and in front of us. There weren't many trees to offer privacy so our we had to makeshift privacy by parking the car and placing tents to block our view. There were enough trees to tie tarps in case of rain which I appreciated. I sort of enjoyed being close to the other campers it made the campground feel more homely, but I know that's not everyone's thing. Otherwise the campground came with your common campground stuff, a fire pit and a picnic table. These campgrounds had a very rocky terrain so be mindful about bringing extra ground tarps to protect the bottom of your tent. The non-electric sites definitely offered more privacy.
Lake:
The park sits on the north end of Lake Simcoe and the beach area was busy. Many people come to this park for day use, so the beach area is where people tend to go. The lake is lovely, its warm and shallow, the water is clear and has a really nice rippled sandy bottom. I really enjoyed being in the lake. Dogs are prohibited from being on the beach but may use the picnic area. Plenty of dog owners had their dog on the beach anyway and that was perfectly fine with me, just have that be expected. There is a boating dock way off to the side.
Amenities:
Don't think this park had a park store. No canoe rentals. I saw maybe 1 hiking trail?. This park is pretty small and is most popular for it's day use so not too many fantastic camping amenities. Comfort stations were pretty standard, could be cleaned more often if I had to complain about something. There were water spouts throughout the campgrounds. The campground is very close to Orillia so we enjoyed some time there visiting the cute town. We hit up the farmers market them the car show.
It was a good time. I had fun spending a couple nights away from home enjoying the lake. I wouldn't spend more than 3 nights at this park. There isn't much to do. It's just nice for a little weekend getaway.
