点评:I recently visited 5th Avenue in Playa del Carmen and felt compelled to warn others about the alarming animal exploitation that takes place in the area. While the avenue is a popular spot for shopping and sightseeing, I strongly advise against engaging with any attractions that involve animals, such as monkeys, macaws, parrots, tigers, jaguars, or any other exotic animals.
During my visit, I witnessed several young animals, including a Bengal tiger, a Siberian white tiger, and a jaguar, being treated terribly. The jaguar was so heavily sedated that it couldn’t even move its head, and the staff was violently jerking the animal to force it to take pictures with tourists. The tigers also appeared drugged, barely able to react or move, and were used solely for photo ops. These animals were clearly lethargic, in distress, and were being abused for the benefit of tourist photos.
It’s heartbreaking to know that these innocent animals are being drugged and exploited for entertainment, without any regard for their well-being. It’s especially disturbing to think about how these animals may be discarded once they grow too large to serve as attractions. This is not the kind of experience that should be supported or encouraged.
Please avoid supporting any businesses or attractions that exploit animals for photos or interactions. It’s important to stand against this cruelty and not contribute to the suffering of these animals. The wildlife deserves better, and so should we as responsible tourists.
