点评:We never intended to visit Kaa Iya. When our planned visit to Jaguarland with Nicksadventures had to be cancelled due to flooding, we were offered Kaa Iya as an alternative.
It has been reported as a “hit or miss” destination, and we were possibly unlucky. The wildlife watching is carried out along the road that runs through the park. Whilst it was beautiful at the end of the rainy season (flowers & butterflies), the foliage was dense, meaning animals had to step into the road to be seen.
We would describe sightings as brief, distant and sporadic. Indeed we put in hours of driving often without seeing single mammal.
So, manage your expectations - embrace the full experience of bugs, frogs, sounds.
It is a privilege to be in a true wilderness in a country which doesn’t seem to value this.
However, if you are after a richer wildlife experience with extended and close sightings, the Pantanal is a better bet (and cost us around the same)
