Another unique feature is the opportunity to witness an electric eel stunning its prey and consuming it, a rare and captivating sight.
One of the most impressive aspects of the Kagoshima Aquarium is that some of the tanks are filled with water directly from the sea and can be opened and closed towards the open sea. This innovative setup allows the aquarium to host certain animals for some time, set them free for a while, and later host them again. It’s a wonderful demonstration of the aquarium's commitment to animal welfare and natural habitats.
