点评:Visited in September as relatively new National Trust members.
We set off up the lane from the car park, turned left through a high hedge and our dog (on a short extending lead) fell into the cattlegrid. This granite death trap was obscured from view with no warning signs.
This was pretty much where our visit ended due to our dog being in so much pain (she has hip and elbow displacia).
The lady volunteer at the cabin was sympathetic and helpful, unlike her male colleague who proceeded to continue his speech about what was where!!
The only place we went after administering pain relief to our dog was towards home 8 hours away.
Having been in contact with an area manager I have continually come up against an irresponsible attitude stating that there is nothing that they can do and that a sign near this cattlegrid won’t be of any use!! Allegedly a safety team has been out to inspect this cattlegrid but refusal to supply the safety report casts honesty and integrity doubts over that statement.
Consider this ……
**Occupiers Liability Act 1957, businesses have a duty of care to ensure that their premises are reasonably safe for visitors. The lack of visibility and signs for the cattlegrid represents a breach of this duty.**
Hopefully no person trips into this death trap and suffers severe lower leg / foot injuries as a result of this negligent attitude and a willingness to brush this incident under the carpet.
As a direct result of this we are cancelling our National Trust membership
