点评:Visited this property as part of a two week holiday to Devon and Cornwall taking in many National Trust properties along the way to make the most of our new membership.
We walked up the lane from the car park with our dog but on turning through the gap in the hedge our dog (who has hip and elbow displacia) fell into the granite cattlegrid. She scrabbled around trying to regain her footing and get out.
On heading to the volunteers building on the way back to the car I stopped with our dog while my husband went to the car to get her some pain relief. The lady volunteer was kind, sympathetic and helpful. The man volunteer clearly didn’t recognize the seriousness of the situation (despite explaining it!!). As we left he was pointing out where everything was on the property. Quite frankly the only place our poor dog was going back to the car and on to home 8 hours away.
Please be careful of this cattle grid as it is not seen from the lane as it is obscured by the hedge. The response from the National Trust has been very poor, stating that a sign will not solve the issue of this safety risk
