点评:What a wonderful way to spend an hour or two on a nice spring day. Agecroft is really fascinating, with layers and layers of Tudor and Richmond history. The house and grounds are also just really pleasant and beautiful.
The tour is technically “self-guided”… but not really. Basically, every thirty minutes there is an entry time where you get a brief, 5-minute introduction to the house before entering. After that, there is a small downstairs and upstairs area of the house to tour that has decorated per Tudor historical standards. The area of the house you can tour is pretty condensed, and basically you are always being watched and talked to by a docent. The docents are really knowledgeable and lovely, but we (and everyone else in our entry time) were effectively led through the house on a tour.
If you love Tudor history and decor, this is a must see. However, I would have liked more information on the Richmond side of the house’s history, which the tour only briefly discussed. Another minor pain point is that the gardens have the potential to be absolutely stunning, but are kind of rough and unkempt in places (but still very nice). The water feature had a dreadful gnat cloud, for instance.
