点评:The Independence Palace, also known as the Reunification Palace, was built in the 1960s to replace a damaged French colonial building in the same location. It is one of the most beautiful buildings of that period that I have seen and is well worth a visit on that account alone.
It remained an administration building until the capital of the reuinted country was moved to Hanoi in 1976 and is now a museum and major tourist attraction.. There is a lot to see from state banqueting rooms to underground bunkers. Information labels are in English.
We visited the Independence Palace as part of a tour of the Cu Chi Tunnels (morning) and several sights in the city (in the afternoon) and felt we were a little rushed. We would have preferred to spend more time in the palace so that we could read the information about what we were seeing at a more leisurely pace.
