点评:We negotiated a great price for a tuktuk out to the caves. It takes about an hour. An experience in itself. The caves are incredibly well organised. Tickets are 600 rupees for foreigners which is really reasonable. The caves are all marked and it makes sense to buy a guide which is very informative. If you get there early, you’ll avoid a lot of the crowds. Take lots of water and something to eat. You’ll be on the go for between 2-4 hours depending on how much you want to do and see. Cave 16 is the big one. Honestly it’s worth going all the way there just for this experience. As I said in the title, “words & pictures don’t do it justice”. It’s a phenomenal, mind-bending feat of excavation and carving. Make sure you climb around the outside to get a view from above. The other caves are still pretty amazing. I think it’s cave 17 that has a wonderful roof of bats that fly low over you when you discover their hideaway. There is an abundance of black faced langurs all over the place and some baboons. All quite harmless but I don’t suggest trying to stroke them…they’re wild animals. It’s mostly very clean but so sad to see areas of plastic dumped. I really wish something could be done about it. The tuktuk driver will wait for however long you are there. All part of the price. A visit to Aurangabad is a must on your itinerary as one of India’s wonders.
