Beautiful, but be prepared for a strenuous hike
Parque Nacional Natural Tayrona的点评
点评：Absolutely breathtaking views. Sittings of rare monkeys that are only found in this part of Colombia, and Playa La Piscina is a little piece of heaven. Things to note/things I wish I had known.
-Entry is a process, with multiple fees- entry, health insurance, the shuttle to the trailhead (highly recommended, both to save your energy for the trail and because walking on the side of that road looks dangerous). They check your bags carefully for plastic, and make you throw away all plastic bags and bottles prior to entering the park
-Ironically, there are places to stop, about every 30 minutes to get snacks, water (in plastic bottles), juice , ice cream , and full restaurants at Playa La Piscina and Playa Cabo San Juan. The one at La Piscina looked really cute and good. My favorite stop was one run by members of the Kogi population there for Agua coca— they hack open a coconut with a machete and offer it to you con, or sin carne (coconut “meat.”) Very refreshing!
- The hike is no joke— I am in my late 50’s , run half marathons and do Orange Theory 4x per week, and I thought the hike, though not that technically difficult, was very strenuous— lots of stairs and natural stairs up and down, and it is hot and humid. The steps are sometimes in disrepair, and although signs everywhere tell you to use the handrails, there often aren’t any
-If I were to do it again , I would just hike to La Piscina and back. Cabo San Juan was crowded, not as pretty, and not worth the additional effort.
Overall A+ Don’t miss this !
