点评:I have deleted a previous one star review of Ninja Warrior Teesside as they have now addressed the issue of the parent barriers.
Whilst the frosted area is still too high in my opinion to get a totally comfortable view of the whole area, it is a significant improvement over the former, fully frosted barriers, and you do feel like you can at least monitor your children now.
Unfortunately, the damage may already be done as upon visiting during a drizzly February half term afternoon (when I would expect it to be packed) it was extremely quiet.
I think Ninja Warrior really, really need to be proactive in getting the word out now about the parent barriers being changed, as I know many parents who visited previously said they wouldn't go back solely because of this issue. I haven't seen any mention of the change on their social media or in any emails.
Other than that, the place is generally very good. The kids love it, the equipment is great and concept itself is fantastic: an older version of soft play.
There aren't many indoor places to take older children and keep them active (and off tech!) throughout the cold winter months, and in that respect this facility is superb.
In the multiple times I've been here the staff have always been friendly, polite and helpful. A friend of mine whose child has sensory issues and had difficulty with the socks also commented on how kind and understanding the staff were.
That said I'd say there's still a couple of areas for improvement.
The cafe is expensive and most of the food seems to be aimed at kids (ice cream, pizza, pick'n'mix). However, the kids are usually on the equipment and the cafe is mostly filled with parents, so I think they're missing a trick by not catering to their tastes more. Think less kids party, more coffee shop!
The cafe is not a hugely welcoming area for parents: it's freezing cold, the seats are hard and the tables are wobbly. Whilst the kids are very well catered to by the whole facility, it is the parents who make the ultimate decision to come and spend their hard earned money, and it needs to be a pleasant experience for them or they won't come again.
And at £15 per hour it's expensive.
It's closest competitor locally, Jump360, is both larger and cheaper, and a couple of extra quid on a ticket makes a big difference when you have multiple kids.
I've noticed that Ninja Warrior have run a few discount codes lately, but it might be a better idea just to match or undercut their competitor. Or even promote something like a heavily discounted monthly pass. Otherwise parents will probably view this as an 'occasional treat'.
Hopefully management will address these issues in the way they have with the parent barriers, and will manage to attract their customers back!
