Spectacular - even in the rain

点评：We had scheduled a visit on what turned out to be an on and off rainy day. Cape Sounion, where the Temple of Poseidon is located, is about forty-five miles out of Athens making it a little difficult to get to. We hired a van with driver who picked us up mid-afternoon at our apartment in Athens. This was my 2nd time to visit the temple, but this time I had my two adult kids, three grandkids and daughter-in-law with me. When we got there, the hard rain had stopped but it was still misting on and off. On the way up the hill on the slick sidewalk, we saw a man slip and fall, but luckily he didn't appear to be injured. As we walked around the temple it started raining again, so our visit was a lot shorter than we had planned. Because of the rain, we didn't get to see that spectacular view at sunset of the ancient Greek ruins perched on the hill, surrounded on three sides by the beautiful blue Aegean Sea. But, even with the rain, the grandkids loved it. While we were there, we noticed a huge yacht anchored right off the Cape that everyone was pointing at. The talk was that it belonged to "Sting" who was scheduled to perform at the Acropolis Herod Odeon Theater the next night as part of the 2024 Athens and Epidaurus Festival.
