点评：I fell in love with Poe's work thanks to middle school teacher.
On my most recent visit, I was lucky enough to win a spot on the Open House NY tour of Woodlawn Cemetery, so planned my busy schedule to include a stop at Poe's famed cottage, just nearby.
It was a quick walk there from the subway. The exterior was being refurbished, but the inside was on full display. An added bonus was a reading by the author of "Secret NYC" during my visit. I'm an Atlas Obscura fan, so this was an added treat.
The cottage sits in a city park right in the middle of everything. I tried to imagine how it might have been in Poe's day, when the Bronx was quite rural.
The walk to and from the cottage was a long a main thoroughfare, so I grabbed locally made pizza and rolls to go before jumping back on the train to the end of the line.
