点评:One of my favorite historical sites to visit in Panama City. Panama Viejo was the original Panama City that was founded by the Spanish in 1519, destroyed by Captain Morgan and eventually moved a few miles away (Casco Viejo which resembles the New Orleans French Quarter). Panama Viejo is a sprawling area of ruins, a very nice museum, cafe, and gift shop. You can take the tram from the entrance to the museum, but I would suggest walking the few hundred meters so you can stop and take in and read about the ruins you're passing. Remember that this original town was settled in 1519 so you're walking through 500 years of history. I see lots of poor reviews on this historical site and find it sad that so many people complain about nothing. Their expectations are so high and their interest in history so low that they fail to understand the significance of what they're seeing. It will be hot so stay hydrated. The paths/walkways are good to very good for those with mobility issues. The museum is air conditioned and the tram runs back and forth every ten minutes or so. Highly recommend that you do climb the old tower for a beautiful view. I also suggest that you read up on the history of Panama Viejo prior to visiting to maximize the experience. Don't wonder away from the park as it's located in a poorer area. Take a taxi/uber to and from Panama Viejo. The entire area is fenced in and there will be police there so you're fine inside.
