Worth the visit; A peaceful setting

点评：Deering Estate is a beautiful property which is well worth the visit. We enjoyed the history of the place and both the Richmond Cottage and the Stone House are nicely preserved. We were lucky to have a guided tour by the knowledgeable Tori. We later explored the grounds - the carriage house, the pump and electricity building, the mangrove boardwalk, the art installations, but the biggest wow is the view of the key lock shaped dock or boat turning basin flanked by majestic palms.
A very peaceful setting and we stayed from the opening to closing time and I enjoyed every minute of it. I was wise to bring along some sandwiches which we enjoyed on sturdy benches bordering the dock while watching a pod of manatees, two big snook fishes, and birds with large outstretched wings soaring the skies. We were lucky to also see a few pelicans at the end of the mangrove boardwalk making huge splashes as they dive for fishes. Worth the visit.
