Highland Folk Museum的点评
点评：Admission was just a voluntary contribution of any amount, cash or credit card accepted.
The open air museum sprawled over a large area so allocate enough time to see the entire place. The easiest buildings to visit were located by the admission gate. They were split into two areas: Middle Village and Aultlarie Croft. Some examples included a church, train station, post office, and tweed shop which were richly decorated with period furnishings and items. Collections of curling stones, shinty (like hurling), tweeds and tartans were some of the museum collections also found around the village.
We also finally got to see the highland cows up close. They were quite cute especially following one of the employees around thinking they might get fed!
The Pinewoods section was quite the walk but worth it. We passed through a section that was devastated during a recent storm that knocked down a large number of trees. The Baile Gean 1700s village at the end had a very helpful and informative staff member who was a wealth of interesting information. I am glad she was there. Do note that inside the buildings smelled heavily of smoke since it was a method of pest control that was quite effective in keeping out vermin.
Plan to spend a couple hours here.
