Limited scope and amateur tour delivery style reduce chance for enjoyment

点评：We visited on Friday 14th March 2025 4 years after discovering the only Lockheed Constellation in the UK was N7777G at Wroughton Science Museum Long Term Storage facility and thus 4 years from my first visit enquiry, 2 years from when the site was due to open, 6 months from when it opened and tickets sold out and 6 months since I secured these tour tickets which then entailed driving down the night before, an overnight stay in Swindon, we arrived for our schedule 12:45 tour of the new Hawking Building. We were first told that the airframes were all out of bounds for the tour. Upon review post-visit, this omission was detailed in the information supplied with the ticket. Regardless of the reasoning discussing this omission from the tour, we were not the only ones who had only visited principally to see the Lockheed Constellation (so the message re the planes was missed by them too) even if it was limited to seeing the plane through a hanger window or opening the hanger doors to view it would have been preferable to denying access altogether. As it was when we started the tour the tour guide who worked for the Science Museum explained she was the guide and the others were volunteers. She asked that we not photograph or video her or the said volunteers and then proceeded to walk right in front of the camera and complained about being videoed, which was ironic given she and the others are pictured on the website. Beyond this stupid behaviour, her selection of 7 or 8 items to give a history of was quite limited as it omitted a summary of the other items in each row. Lastly, we were given a deep dive into Stephen Hawkins families attempts to avoid inheritance tax by dumping the contents of his office on the science museum including his microwave........great.
