Definitely recommend this as your first stop on a wine tour

点评：I wanted to do some winetasting when visiting the Marlborough area. I think some vineyards do free wine tasting with the trouble with that is that you end up at the end feeling obliged to buy wine or somewhat embarrassed if you don’t. So I found some vineyards which you paid 15 or $20 to taste a flight of wines . That turned out to be a much better solution.
Cloudy Bay was a really great experience. It was recommended as the one to do in one of our guides if you’re only doing one and it is definitely the one to include. Although it’s quite a big commercial operation, the winetasting is very professional and quite intimate. We turned up without a booking , but if you’re going during the busy period I would definitely book. We were shown to a table and offered the menu which was three different flights of wine all about $20 each. My wife has a flight of five wines including the famous Sauvignon Blanc. I opted for the Riesling selection of 4 wines and then we tried each other’s wines. There was water and crackers on the table. Our host was lady from the champagne region of France who was very expert. All in all a really good experience which I would definitely recommend.
