点评:I was in Indianapolis for a meeting and, on the first day, I had time to kill and had intended to visit their world class zoo. However, my flight was held up out of LGA (what else is new) and cut too much time out of the day. The IHS was within walking distance of my hotel, so I headed over there.
First stop was the cafe where I was able to find some fairly local fare in the Chicken Velvet soup. The cafe (eat indoors or out, on the canal) is spacious and airy, and a good spot for a quick bite. Second stop, the shop. Some good locally made items, although not quite as many as I would have expected (and far too much Taylor Swift nonsense - her Indy concert was the next weekend).
As for the museum, I was too distracted by the ground floor (basically for kids) and so when I went up to the History of the Hoosier State I didn't have enough time to see everything before closing time (and believe me I had a few hours). I wasn't sure how interesting this history would be even though I'm a history buff, because I figured it would be tailored to the local clientele. Not so, I actually learned some things about US history I should have known but didn't. They were announcing that the museum was closing in fifteen minutes and I was trying hard to cover the twentieth century as well as the Famous Hoosiers display. Didn't quite get it all.
Recommended, especially for history buffs.
