点评:I love to visit local museums wherever I go, knowing that their quality varies. I especially love museums that tell AfricanAmerican history we didn't learn in the public school education of my era. This museum is STELLAR! It's a first-class museum that tells the story of the enslaved peoples on the Clotilda, the last illegal slave ship to bring enslaved Africans to America in a story that was widely known as far as Cleveland! It tells the story of what happened to these people in Africa and after they arrived in Mobile. Here's where you can see Zora Neale Hurston's sociological work with her interviews. I cannot say enough good things about this museum. Just go!!! Parking is free. You might think you're lost on your way there because it's tucked down in the actual village founded by the Clotilda's freed Africans after the Civil War, but our GPS led us right there. We took our time to examine each of the exhibits, and it took 2 hours for us to see.
