Fresh Produce, Flowers, Food Stalls, Turkish Delight & Second Hand Books...

点评：Adelaide Central Market is well worth exploring.
It's mainly a farmers and produce market. A large part of it is made up of fresh meat and fruit and vegetable stalls but there are also a lot of places to eat.
For tourists staying in the CBD, its a good place to pick up an affordable breakfast and a coffee. We tried both Atlas and Lucia’s which were both good.
Skala Bakery was great for sweet pastries. The custard filled almond croissant was so good, we went back a second day.
We were tempted by the Mettwurst Shop with its range of chorizo, traditional garlic mettwurst, cabanas, and salamis. The beef jerky caught our eye but so did the spicy German sausages with names like ‘Fire Starter’ and ‘Bum Burner’.
Although it's not a huge market, there is quite a lot of variety. I spent some time browsing at the second hand book stall. It’s a large one with plenty of titles if you’re looking for something to read right now but it also has specialty sections and some collectible books. I spotted a set of PG Wodehouse’s Jeeves books and there were a lot of Biggles. I didn’t pick up anything as they were all fairly pricey.
My favourite stall was ‘The Turkish Delight’. Selling only hand-made Turkish Delight, the stall is a rainbow of colours with so many flavours it takes a while to choose. There were the traditional flavours of course but then there were all the others - apple pie, pomegranate, passionfruit, mango…
We tasted some small sample pieces before settling on three - traditional rose, white rose and peach (3 for $25). If you’re buying for a gift, they have boxed sets.
