点评:What a gem of a museum. The museum itself is a row of converted weavers' cottages and is dedicated to that ancient cottage industry. Hugely informative, with coal fires blazing downstairs and weaving upstairs, it really was like stepping back in time. We went when there was a weaving demonstration taking place and the two ex-weavers couldn't have been more informed or friendly. We spent over an hour going from room to room - note there are some low ceilings to beware of if you're tall.
Entry fee was only £5 - a bargain given the rich cultural heritage Colne Valley Museum promotes and vital for its upkeep.
Parking near the museum isn't viable (narrow cobbled road) but we found a small, free car park on the main street nearby. Golcar itself has retained many of its rows of weavers' cottages and links to the past. There's also a superb butcher's shop opposite the car park selling award-winning pies which is worth a gander.
