点评:You can't visit Toledo for even a day and not visit the massive cathedral near its center. We'd seen it from different rooftop views and so my husband and I stepped inside as the afternoon's rainstorm started. You have to buy entrance tickets across the street in a crowded little ticket office/gift shop (with no bathrooms).
The cathedral was quite crowded on a Friday afternoon in mid-March with tour groups and other individual tourists. We learned later that Toledo was long the ecclesiastical center of Spain, so a grand cathedral made sense. As usual on our trip, a small area was under renovation, but nothing that detracted from our visit.
There is a room in the back full of statues of past bishops and archbishops that was cool to see. The organ and altar are both stunning, too. With the storm darkening the sky we couldn't fully appreciate the stained glass windows, but there are plenty. There is also a massive gold Catholic object used in parades, I believe, but I'm not Catholic.
