点评:I’ve got to say, the last thing I expected to visit in Athens was an automobile museum—especially one so well put together.
Tickets were €12 per person, which is very reasonable, and the staff were extremely helpful in directing us on how to start exploring the exhibit.
There are so many vehicles on display that it’s hard to remember them all: from antiques to timeless classics to modern iconic cars, the museum has it all.
The collection is spread out over multiple levels, so you need to pick a direction and keep track as you go. If you feel like you’ve lost your way—since the place is quite large—you can always ask the staff for directions.
One of the best exhibits is an old garage from 1920s–1940s Athens. They essentially took the entire contents from that era and recreated them in a special area of the museum—it’s the single best thing I’ve seen in an automobile museum so far.
To keep things interesting, near the entrance there’s an old Austin you can sit in and play around with the controls.
On the way out, you walk down a spiral ramp, and on the walls they’ve displayed automobile wheels dating back to the 19th century (I’m guessing here) all the way up to modern times, which you can view progressively as you descend.
To conclude: the museum is awesome. I definitely recommend visiting if you’re in the area—it’s a refreshing break from the usual tourist attractions that define Athens. And I promise you, car lover or not, you won’t be disappointed.
