点评:I have been using this shop frequently for a long time, often two or three times a month. I have a large two room personallibrary and rarely sell, donate or discard any books. Among my particular and favourite interests are fine arts, classic as well as innovative photography, radical politics and related biography. The BRC has always had a surprisingly broad and detailed stock of especially the art and photography and my acquisitions here even over the last couple of years run well into three figures. But over the last several months it has grown very difficult to get access to the shelves where they are kept in the corner beyond the serving counter. Almost inevitably the floor there is stacked and strewn with boxes, carriers and loose piles of all kinds of books around a chair or two occupied by late teenage volunteers who rarely have any inclination to open a way towards the shelves so the spines can at least be read. This week may turn out to be my last visit. While I was peering at the lower shelves a sullen loud woman possibly in her twenties and the beside the till announced clearly aimed at a cluster of customers or maybe other staff that she was the manager, that there was no cause for complaint, too much fuss was being made about the gift donation sorting corner, that the shop had stocked/sold virtually no art or photography books for ages or ever and that she was fed up with people (or maybe just me!?) commenting. When I took a couple of books to pay, one for at least a tenner. She didn’t look my way or speak.
Interesting way to operate a charity shop.

经营慈善商店的方式很有趣。
