World museums take note. This is how to do it.
Oman Across Ages Museum的点评
点评：A visit to this new museum is a must. If you are going to build a museum this is the way to do it. The building rises out of the landscape imitating the local rocks. Parking is in an indoor multi storey carpark. Cross the beautiful marble forecourt takes you to the museum entrance. Once through friendly security (a word of warning here, we did witness men being turned away in shorts and ladies they do appreciate modest dress) you are taken on an interactive journey through Omans history from the beginning of time. The museum takes you through the physical country, early civilisations, sea faring history through to the present day. There is an emphasis on Omans transformation into modern life since 1970. ( you may have to do your own research on 1970 before you go) The much loved forward thinking previous Sultan Qaboos and the present Sultan have a clear vision of which direction they wish modern Oman to proceed in.
Many exhibits were interactive and at no point do you feel rushed or overrun. In typical Omani style this is a calm, friendly space. Do take your time this is more than a one hour stop.
