Good and interesting but could be improved

点评：We were given an 'Unlimited Cream Tea' voucher which we had not got around to and needed to be used. It was easy to book and they were helpful and flexible to fit us into a vacant afternoon.
The visit was a mix of good and not so good. The place looks quite run down externally and could do with tidying and painting, although the cold (3 deg C) and overcast day probably did not help. The entrance lads into an old barn type structure which was almost as cold inside as out with only a mobile gas heater which was only half turned on. The staff are nice and tell you what will happen and you can then buy wine, bubbly or tea and coffee while you wait for the start.
Our guide was Ted who was very knowledgeable and good. He took us around part of the vineyard and explained about the vines. We then went to the machinery which would have been interesting but the presses were covered and only described (sorry, interest of an engineer in machinery). The fermentation shed was almost as cold as outside!
After the tour we went back to the 'barn' where the wine tasting took place upstairs. Ted took us through 4 wines and 4 bubblies with a taste of each which was good (although I had to only sip a little of each as I had to drive home after). There was talk of the offers (6 bottles of bubbly for £99) but no hard sell. After it was back to the lower area where there was scones (shop bought) with clotted cream and jam and cakes. It included tea and coffee or you could buy glasses of wine. The group for this tour was only 8 people so there was enough for all.
