点评:The park is still nice & well worth a visit ,but it didn't seem as well kept as when I was in the area years ago. I went specifically to revisit the Japanese gardens. Alas, they looked sadly stagnant. The water fountain that used to cascade downhill from the Italian gardens to the Japanese gardens was dry & from other reviews last year I assume this is either ongoing or ..... (hopefully not!) Permanent. This park doesn't charge a fee for entry so perhaps that's the problem?
There's a donation kiosk near the entry & when I was making a donation someone asked if it was to pay for parking in the lot. I said no it's for making donations for park upkeep. He said 'oh' and walked off.
Later when I was leaving, I sat at a nearby bench & watched many people walk in without giving the kiosk a second glance. The parking lot was nearly full. While I'm sure some people genuinely couldn't afford to donate, I somehow doubt that covers most of the guests that day.
If you go there and want to put a dollar or 2 in rather than the suggested donation of 5$, it will let you, even though that's not technically an option. Just select 5$ & enter your dollars. The machine will just stay on the first screen waiting for you to put more money in until it times out. It doesn't return the money after the home screen comes up. I assume of course that you couldn't do that with a debit card.
Thought I'd mention that in case someone wants to help support the park even a little bit. A dollar here and there adds up!
