Excellent zoo
塔瑞噶野生动物园的点评
点评：Taronga is one of the best zoos in Australia. The public ferry only cost $1 to get there (and back) and was an enjoyable ride. A great way to see the harbour. The directional signs at the zoo were hard to navigate (especially at the lower entrance) but the animal signs were informative and helpful. It was raining a lot but we found lots of places to shelter. There were also umbrellas and plastic rain ponchos for sale in the shops. We didn’t visit the Australian section at all and spent our whole day in the other side of the zoo.
The new lion habitat looks great! Lots of space and lots of places for people to see the lions, no matter where they are. Great to hear them roaring across the zoo too.
The new Amphibian and Reptile Conservation Centre is fantastic! I really enjoyed all the displays and great variety of animals. The alligator snapping turtle is very impressive!
We ate at the central cafe (near the old elephant habitat) and found the food delicious. The self service areas are easy to manage. There were lots of options (including vegan, gluten free etc.) and lots of places to sit.
The gift shops were well priced with a great range of merchandise.
The tiger area is excellent, and we were happy to see a tiger sleeping next to the glass! The video on a loop got a bit tired after a while though.
The hills and stairs are difficult to manage (even for young, relatively fit people) but there are escalators and lifts here and there.
All in all, a great zoo.
