点评:We visited the Museum as part of a cruise and, to be honest, by the time we got to Townsville, we were a littled 'museum'd out', so perhaps didn't embark on our visit with the best mindset.
We were given the option of three tours and we chose to learn about the corals on the Great Barrier Reef and absolutely struck gold with the young man who delivered the tour, a Masters student at the university who was so knowledgeable and enthusiastic about his subject and, most importantly, able to bring that down to a level of understanding for the average visitor. A real asset to the museum.
We were also greeted by a group of volunteers who are clearly deeply committed to showcasing the museum and how lucky the museum is to have them.
There is a full sized part model of the ship Pandora, with the carpet on the floor modelling the actual deck print of the gun deck, a clever idea.
A cafe with views over the marina offers drinks, cakes and light lunches and the 'exit through the gift shop' had a variety of souvenirs for all ages and all pockets.
Worth a view.
