Delapre Abbey的点评
点评：We were looking for somewhere to visit within about an hour's drive of home and googling turned up Delapré Abbey. What a find! We had a wonderful day, helped by gorgeous weather. Entry to the extensive grounds and parking is free - it was packed with people walking, running, walking dogs, families exploring...
A visit to the house costs £5 and is well worth the money. You can wander round on your own or take a guided tour that lasts about an hour. We decided on this and it really added to the experience. Our guide was very knowledgeable and presented the information is a humorous, tongue-in-cheek way that was very refreshing. Every volunteer we met was super helpful and friendly and they clearly all love working there and what they do. You are encouraged to touch and look closely, there is lots of hands-on stuff for children, very few roped-off areas and do not touch signs - such a refreshing change from so many places. There are loads of events throughout the year aimed at all kinds of interests and ages. We had lunch in the café and despite being incredibly busy, the food was served quickly and was very good quality, fresh and tasty, with generous portions, with the exception of the cakes on display, which seemed a bit miserly in size for the price. We are looking forward to another visit in the future.
