点评:My partner and I completed a 10 day retreat at Sanatan Yog. The schedule included 3.5 hours a day of high quality yoga (if you want to do that much, you can do as much or as little as you like) and an awesome blend of meditation classes, classes on yoga philosophy and spirituality, and also outings to spiritual places in Pushkar and other treats like an ayervedic doctor consultation and massages. Sanatan and his brother Gaurang have been practicing yoga since childhood, and they come from 4 generations of yoga practitioners. We felt they were excellent yoga teachers, and the yoga classes are held in the gorgeous temple at the ashram which is pretty magical (but chilly on a winters morning, be sure to grab one of the blankets, and maybe wear extra layers). The retreat really focussed on all aspects of yoga, not just the asana, and we learnt so much from witnessing and being included in the prayers and rituals of a fully working temple. The retreat also included the most clean and abundant nourishing vegetarian home cooked food made their mother, from vegetables and milk products from the ashram farm and cows. And there were also other treats, including chai, Indian sweets and lots of other tasty delights. We are not vegetarians, but Pushkar is a vegetarian city, and I must say that with the variety and quality of food cooked by their mum, we did not miss eating meat at all. We learnt so much from Gaurang and Sanatan in the meditation, pranayama, and philosophy classes, and also when we were taken out to visit Pushkar and the temples. Both brothers bent over backwards (literally and figuratively) to provide us with the best experience possible, including taking us to an Indian wedding when we said we wanted to experience one, and to the markets to get a good price on some things we wanted to buy, and booking train tickets for us for later on our travels around India. Having done the retreat I feel that it would also be perfect for solo female travellers wanting to experience a yoga and spiritual retreat in a safe way. The best thing about the retreat however was being made to feel like a member of the family for the time we were there. There is so much genuine warmth and kindness, from the brothers and their mum that we felt so welcomed and right at home for the whole stay. We did not want to leave, and hope to be back soon.
