Great view, mediocre wines.
Living Water Winery & Vineyard的点评
点评：While visiting Young Harris, we were made known of Living Water Winery and Vineyard in Blairsville, Georgia. We had been to other Georgia wineries before and decided to try another one.
The view here was gorgeous, especially on a clear day. Parking was a bit challenging due to a small lot. We proceeded to the entrance of the tasting room. It was obvious the proprietor spent quite a bit on this structure. It was airy and inviting. We had high hope for the wine being offered. As we approached the counter, a lukewarm greeting awaited us. We did not mind this because they seemed short-handed, and it was a busy day for them.
We decided on two sets of wine flights. One set of white wines and one set of red/blush wines.
1. 2021 Pinot Grigio: This was made using one hundred percent Pinot Grigio grapes. It presented your palate with flavors of green apples, acidic and refreshing.
2. 2021 Sauvignon Blanc: This was fermented using one hundred percent Sauvignon Blanc grapes. It has a lush flavor of tropical fruits with hints of melon rind.
3. 2021 Chardonnay: This wine was made using one hundred percent Chardonnay grapes. First sip revealed quite a bit of pear notes followed by oak. The finish was grassy and acidic.
4. 2021 Gruner Veltliner: One hundred percent Gruner Veltliner grapes. Flavor nuances of lime, mineral water and flat finish. We were quite disappointed in this wine.
5. 2022 Rose: No grape varietals were declared. This Rose was floral with ripe cherry notes, semi-seco and tart finish.
6. 2021 Merlot: One hundred percent Merlot. Full plum notes, dry with solid tannin structure. We are not Merlot drinkers but liked this one best.
7. 2021 Red Blend: This was a 50/50 blend of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes. This wine was surprisingly sweet with flavors of dark berries and disappointingly lose tannin structure.
8. 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon: One hundred percent Cabernet Sauvignon grapes. It was a light body for this type of grapes with flavors of plum flesh and strangely enough, a hint of olives.
Out of eight wines that we tasted, only one stood out – the 2021 Merlot. It was certainly a beautiful Vineyard, but we cannot say the same about their wines. Pay them a visit and soak up some rays. Perhaps you will enjoy their offerings more than we did.
