Lovely house to visit.

点评：A beautiful spring day at Claydon House. The drive up to park is rather narrow, so you do need to respect drivers coming and going. Immediatley you see the vast amount of greenery surrounding this beautiful house. Plenty of places to walk. All Saints Chuch is a beautiful structure that you can walk upto, but it was locked, so not sure you can actually go in there as a general visitor. The house was quite chilly so even on a nice day you do need to have attire to keep warm. Of course the house has to be kept at certain temperature to protect the artefacts, and protect from sunlight. Once in the house you are free to look around at your pace. There are some stunning rooms and a lot of interest on Florence Nightingale. Some great history of her sister as well who was big on education. The family name Verney I found out related to a School known as Lady Verney High School which is no longer. An area is closed off which was used by the family. The wooden flooring in that area is stunning. A pianist was playing during our visit which was very nice. I had a good chat with. The music seemed to float through the house. It added a special touch to our visit. We had lunch at Phoenix Cafe, (not part of the National Trust) As it was a beautiful warm day we ate outside. Sadly many of the tables had flies buzzing around and on the tables, so not so pleasant. The food we had was very nice, but a tad bit expensive for two sandwiches. a bottle of water and a coke just over £21.00 So if on a budget bring your own food. There are a few shops in the food area in a court yard setting. We did not visit those. There is also a 2nd hand book shop, again we did not visit. We spent about 3 hours there. The staff in the house are very engaging for any questions you may have. Overall we enjoyed our day and would definitely return.
