A fed bear is a dead bear

They lure in wild bears with food. This is extremely dangerous and bad for both the bears and humans for several reasons:
- Bears habituated to relying on humans for food lose their wild edge and tend to struggle to survive in the wild on their own once that food source is removed.
- Bears that are fed by humans lose their fear of humans. This emboldens them to approach more populated areas and thus increases the likelihood of human/bear conflict which will likely not end well. This includes them going to campsites, businesses, homes, or even people walking on trail to demand food - even if they have to break in to get it.
- Bears that get habituated to humans become more aggressive and eventually attack humans.
- Disease is also spread more easily among these bears as they are engaging in such unnatural behaviors as congregating in large numbers.
- They are teaching and training not only the bears but their cubs that this is normal bear behavior (when it is actually the opposite) - to approach humans for food.
- They are encouraging visitors who tend to do what they see rather than what they are told. They are teaching people by example that you should walk right up to wild bears and that you should feed wild bears.
At the end of the day, if you are feeding wild bears or supporting businesses like this one, you are both endangering yourself, other people and the bears.
In most cases, this story ends with the bear being killed. Anytime a bear is frequenting populated areas and engaging in any behaviors that are deemed a possible threat to public safety, wildlife officials and in some areas, citizens, will take that bear's life.
If you truly love wildlife, nature and most especially bears, do not support this business!
