点评:The scale and design of this memorial site are truly amazing. It spans several hectares with a short walk from the visitor centre to the memorial site and although quite remote is well worth a visit.
A knowledgeable and welcoming guide showed us around the visitor centre, played a 15 minute video to give us the story behind the memorial and answered all our questions, as well as dressing us up and taking our photographs.
She then directed us to the main memorial site which is a short walk down a muddy track and left us to look around at leisure.
It is a memorial site built by the victors of a battle and a war; bear that in mind as it tells the story their way. For the balancing view cross the river and visit the Ncome museum which tells the story from the other viewpoint.
Both are correct and great memorials. What both commemorate is history and whilst we should never forget that we must also now live our lives in a different way and in harmony together.
