I wanted to reach out and tell you about my experience at the Peter Lik Gallery in Miami, Florida.
I have been a professional pilot for over 30 years and I had seen the P-51 image called "Velocity" in Saint Louis over the past few years. When I first saw the image I immediately fell in love with it and I researched about it on line. It was a print that I knew I would eventually buy for my family's home but I knew it would take some time for me to purchase.
About a year ago I went to the Peter Lik gallery in Miami and met Michael Lazar, the art consultant there.
When I told Michael I was familiar about Peter's prints and the one image I loved, he took me back to the lighting room to show me how the image would look in different lighting scenarios.
After spending time with my family and I, he gave me his card and I told him we would be in touch. I told him when we first met that I was not ready to purchase the image and he completely respected that, however, he still spent time with my family and I and never rushed me out the door.
Here is why I am specifically writing this letter -
Over the past year, Michael had "carefully" reached out to me regarding the print I was interested in as well as sharing information on new images that Peter Lik had added to his gallery. While other art consultants may do this, it was the way Michael went about reaching out to me. No email ever came across as "bothersome". No pressure ever. No spamming ever. The emails were just to give me subtle reminders that he was there to help me if and when I decided to buy the image. He never gave up on me and the time I needed to get my finances in order.
While going through Saint Louis again just the other week, I saw the familiar image that I loved and I immediately thought of Michael.
While sitting in the FBO and looking at the image, I emailed Michael to let him know I was ready to purchase the image and I got a response immediately from him - and that was at 7PM at night. I did not expect an email from him until the following Monday, however, he was completely on his game and remembered my family and I and the image I was interested in.
When we talked on the phone an hour later during the purchase of Velocity, I told him specifically how much his passion for selling Peter's images had made an impression on me. In my honest opinion, he came across as a fantastic salesperson and extremely professional.
Then a week later after purchasing the image, I received a full page, hand written card from him congratulating me on my purchase. He had expressed in the card how he was so thankful for the business and how he also found the image to be a very powerful beautiful piece of art as well.
In my mind, I immediately thought to myself, "Who in this day and age would actually take the time to HAND WRITE a card and send it to someone".
Most would sell an image and move on to the next customer. Michael is unique. Michael makes the whole purchase a true experience and he certainly does a fantastic job representing Peter Lik.
I felt that it was important to take time out and give recognition where it is due. Please reach out to Michael and let him know one of your customers truly finds him remarkable, and that I will be buying more art from him in the future. During these wild and busy times, everyone can sure use a good pat on the back, and Michael absolutely deserves one.
