点评：I went to see the Fairytale of New York yesterday. What a contrast to the advertised trailer! Low budget screams from the set and costumes . I almost feel that I have been a victim of false advertising. The 3 male actors/singers/musicians do a great job with audience participation. The lead female has a lovely voice, but my goodness #2 could shatter glass. In total, we saw 9 people on stage, and the wardrobe changes must have been frantic. The irish dancing certainly isn't as professional as one would hope, but then this isn't Michael Flatley budget! The story was a confusing mish mash of the usual sentiment attached to Christmas which abruptly stops/starts, and the audience starts to question if they should have just gone to the local Irish Bar on a saturday night. Not enough to grasp youngsters' attention but not quite appealing too adults unless they had enjoyed the bar! Some people did not return to their seats after the interval.
I am sorry this was a poor show for me, but I don't dispute it may suit other people. Just don't go expecting to see anything remotely resembling the trailer !
The theatre itself is a little tired but clean and the staff were all helpful. Not particularly comfortable but a good seat with an uninterrupted view of the stage. Toilets are accessible and clean.
