Mount Meru - 4 day trek

点评：These guys were great, they were friendly, helpful and knowledgeable, as well as a good laugh 😄.
Being cheaper than other tour operators there was the worry that quality of the trip may be lacking, but I shouldn't have worried, everything was great.
Nico, the chef, really made an effort with each meal, serving something different but very tasty each time.
Faraja, main porter/waiter, was super helpful and friendly, making sure I had whatever I needed at the camps, but also joined Issack and me for the summit hike and provided much appreciated motivation and encouragement.
Issack, head guide, was with me every step of the way, sharing his knowledge of the mountain, carrying out the health checks to make sure I was fit & well and talking me through each section of the trek. I felt I could ask any questions and raise any concerns (not that I really had any).
Azaeli, the porter, I didn't see much of or really get a chance to speak to, but he was always friendly and smiley when I did see him, in between him busying away behind the scenes.
For the trek itself, the scenery is beautiful, there's opportunity to see wild animals as within the Arusha National Park (a friendly armed ranger will accompany your group for safety) and the views from the top of Mount Meru are just outstanding. Watching the sunrise from the summit really is fantastic, and with it as a back drop to Kilimanjaro was so beautiful.
Having climbed Kilimanjaro (Marangu route) a couple of weeks prior, I would say that although not as tall, Meru is a bit more of a challenging climb. But as long as you're prepared for a bit of scrambling across rocks, and go pole pole, you'll be fine. 👌
The only minor issue I had was that I wish I'd brought a substantial snack, or asked chef to prepare me a sandwich the day before, for when setting off at midnight for the summit hike. I got pretty hungry on the way up, with a few biscuits not quite filling the hole. I am known for having a healthy appetite though, so others may well be fine.
Overall, a fantastic trip that I would definitely recommend 😊. Asante Sana, Team Simba! ❤️
